After seemingly retiring from Hollywood for 15 years, Warren Beatty, now 79, is returning to the big screen in a film centered on life of billionaire and recluse, Howard Hughes.
The legendary actor was very busy with this project as Beatty has the leading role, wrote, produced and directed the film as well – which also features Alec Baldwin, Steve Coogan and Martin Sheen.
At a recent interview, the Oscar winner, known for movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, Bulworth and Dick Tracy tells Variety about his hiatus from film making,
[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]Every film has been long in the making for me, if I produced it,” Beatty said about the long production in which he plays legendary Hollywood eccentric Howard Hughes. “And I haven’t made as many movies as most people have. It feels good [to premiere it] tonight. It feels really good.[/beautifulquote]
About the film:
It’s Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen, songwriter and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist. Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ number one rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress. Hughes’ behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.
The film will hit theaters nationwide Nov. 23 (2016)
