Some of the biggest stars in the Hollywood shone brightly on Monday night (February 26, 2018) to celebrate the big-screen debut of “A Wrinkle in Time.” Director Ava DuVernay was on hand for the Los Angeles premiere, alongside stars Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, newcomer Storm Reid, and many more.

Based on the 1962 novel, it tells the story of a young girl (played by Storm Reid) who sets off on a quest to find her father with the help of three astral travelers.

Ava DuVernay directs the film, making history as the first  woman of color that has helmed a movie with a budget of more than $100 million and comes hot on the heels of the runaway success of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther”-  itself quite a phenomenon as it’s now (currently) the highest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the biggest superhero movie of all time.

The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood hosted the first public screening of the Disney fantasy epic, an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved 1962 novel that hits screens on March 9.

About the Film:

Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg’s classmate Calvin O’Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.
