Kristen Bell arrived ‘pretty in pink’ at the premiere of her new animated film “Zootopia” on Wednesday evening (February 17, 2016) in Hollywood. The Disney event unfolded in front of El Capitan Theatre at the heart of a rain-soaked Hollywood. Fortunately, tents had been erected to deflect the unexpectedly heavy downpour and all was well on the red -carpet.
Shakira proved her lips don’t lie as well, taking time to blow a kiss to the waiting crowd during the event. The 39 year old Colombian singer voices the role of Gazelle in the new animated film, playing a pop star and lends her vocals to the song Try Everything, which was co-written by Sia, T.E. Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen (Stargate). According to the Independent, Shakira was very concerned about her cartoon character’s body shape. She thought the character way too skinny as she wanted Gazelle to be a strong role model for children and suggested that Disney animators give Gazelle bigger hips.
“I love that she is opinionated and she cares about her people. She feels she has a social responsibility,” she told told reporters.
“I feel like her and I have a common denominator. When the directors told me about her I said ‘That is me’, but she was too slim so I asked them to give her more curves and put more meat on the bones. She needs bigger hips so she has them now.”
About the film:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.
