Mel Gibson is on the comeback trail once again. After falling from grace with the Hollywood community not too long ago for alleged racist rants and other alleged miscreant behavior, it seems that Mel is back on track and poised to reclaim his place in the pantheon of Hollywood Superstars.
All seemed right with the World again for Gibson at last night’s Premiere for his latest directorial effort at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills (October 24, 2016).
Gibson’s euphoria was palpable as he arrived arm in arm with his lady Rosalind Ross and what appeared to be signs of a growing baby bump. At 60, Mel Gibson is expecting his 9th child, and first with Ross according to US Weekly.
Gibson and Ross, just 26 years old and setting aside their 35-year age difference, have been dating since 2014. The “Braveheart” actor is already a father of eight other children from previous relationships: daughter Hannah and six sons -Edward, Christian, William, Louis, Milo and Thomas — from his 28-year marriage to former dental nurse Robyn Moore; and daughter Lucia, 6, with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. His son Milo, looking very much like his famous father, was also present as he plays Lucky Ford in the film.
Not to be outdone in the baby-making arena, Co-star Teresa Palmer made her way down the red carpet with quite obvious signs of pregnancy alongside her husband Mark Webber. Apparently, she has just weeks to go before she’s due to give birth to her second child. But quite the trooper she is, made an appearance on the promo trail in Beverly Hills to help promote the film that also co-stars Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn and Luke Bracey…all of which made it to the Samuel Goldwyn Theater for the big event.
Co-Star Andrew Garfield revealed to Variety his thoughts regarding playing Desmond T. Doss, the only conscientious objector to ever be awarded a congressional Medal of Honor for heroism. was a Seventh-day Adventist who became a medic while adhering to his religious convictions of not carrying a weapon. He saved 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II.
[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]I’m very fortunate to work on films that inspire me,”…“He’s an incredible model of what it is to love and treat everyone equally,[/beautifulquote] Garfield tells Variety. “I tried to absorb as much of his essence as possible. I was able to go to his hometown and handle his old tools in sort of a mystical thing where you hope to absorb his essence.”
Also on-hand in Beverly Hills for the Premiere were Noomi Rapace, Caitlyn Jenner, Zack Braff, Alexa PenaVega, Roma Downey and Courtney Vance among many others.
About the film:
“Hacksaw Ridge” is the extraordinary true story of conscientious collaborator Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He believed the war was just, but killing was nevertheless wrong; he was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. As an army medic, Doss single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. He was the first conscientious objector to ever earn the Congressional Medal of Honor.
