“Shiver me timbers”… Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom and other stars walked the plank, er actually it was the proverbial “Red Carpet,” on Thursday (May 18, 2017) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the premiere of the fifth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, “Dead Men Tell No Tales.” There was a carnival atmosphere with jugglers on stilts and hundreds of fans lining Hollywood Boulevard, many dressed in pirate outfits for the occasion – and straining for a glimpse of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom as they walked the carpet.
Although Depp has been battling a number of personal issues, financial and otherwise, “the show must go on” and Depp performed admirably in front of the fans and media…a true professional.
The star-studded guest list included Mario Lopez, Dania Ramirez, Marg Helgenberger, Terry Crews, Alison Sweeney, Jon Lovitz and many others.
About the film: The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
