On May 23 and 26 the classic film Stand by Me will be re-released in theaters around the country for special screenings.
Wil Wheaton, who played the troubled adolescent Gordie, was one of the film’s young actors.
Wheaton talked with Yahoo Entertainment recently about some of the film’s most memorable scenes.
Gordie has to run away from a train at one stage.
According to director Rob Reiner, Wheaton remembers not behaving with nearly enough apprehension.
“It is the only time he ever raised his voice to any of us,” Wheaton said. “He says to Jerry [O’Connell] and me, ‘It is hot. We are tired. The grips are tired. I am tired. If you are not worried about the train hitting you, then you worry about me coming and kicking your ass,’ or something like that.”
The screenings will include the bonus featurette “Walking the Tracks: The Summer of Stand by Me,” which follows “Stephen King as he remembers what inspired him to write the stories of his youth and how they influenced the making of the script, as well as Rob Reiner as he reminisces about the casting of the four leads.”
The film will be shown in theaters around the country on May 23 and 26.
