Universal Pictures is on-course to re-boot all of Universal’s classic monsters for the big screen, according to The Guardian.
It’s the first film in a Marvel-style shared cinematic universe with plans for The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and Van Helsing all in various stages of development.
For this version, there’s no Boris Karloff-style mummy. Instead, we have Algerian actress Sofia Boutella from Star Trek Beyond as the ancient evil who has risen to wreak havoc upon the world …but alas, action star Tom Cruise stands in her way.
The Mummy, directed by Alex Kurtzman, is due in theaters in the summer of 2017.

About the film:
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
